For large projects my Honda Gas pressure washer gave me years of great service. I wanted a dependable lightweight backup electric pressure washer which would be easy to move for light duty around the house jobs.
After checking several internet consumer reviews I purchased the K3.540. So far I used it once cleaning the sidewalks and driveway. The pressure washer did its job beautifully with easy assembly and no leaks. The top rated water cooled induction motor only runs on demand. I found this shut-off feature to be really nice. When you release the trigger handle on the wand and stop washing, the motor shuts off which should give longer pump life. The Karcher K 3.540 X-Series is an Excellent value for a lighduty electric pressure washer and seems to be better engineered than others at this price point.

AR112 Power Washer
If you want something with a slightly less power than the previous review of the AR383 you might want to take a look at AR North Americas’ AR112. At 1,600 PSI it has slightly less punch than the 383. What benefits can you possibly get from an electric power washer with less power? Well, for one thing, it is a little cheaper than the bigger versions. This power range will also mean that it is quieter and even easier to move around than many power washers out there.

I owned another brand washer that was rated 1500 PSI, 1.4 gpm. This one is quieter and has an overall feel of quality to it. What’s important is that it is getting the job done. I used it to clean my garage floor and driveway. When I last cleaned my driveway with the old 1500 PSI unit, I had to use a very narrow stream. With this unit, I can use a wider stream ( which means I can do the job faster ) than I did with my old washer. I didn’t expect the extra 100 PSI to make that much of a difference.
Summary: the AR North America AR112 is light and surprisingly powerful for a handheld electric pressure washer. The motor is quieter than the comparable washer that I’m replacing.

My old pressure washer died on me so as always I like to read reviews before making a purchase, at first I didn’t think you could get much pressure from a hand held pressure washer, but this one delivers. my old one was from Harbor Freight, (junk) and it was on 2 wheels which made it difficult to lug around. this one I love. great pressure, easy to manuever, love the handle and it has good hose length. Its a great product at a great price. for the average home owner that needs pressure washing, whether it be the car or the deck etc, this one is fantastic!

I don’t usually write reviews but what made me do it is AR North America’s customer service. After testing the unit, I ordered an extra accessory from them directly (flat surface cleaner to clean cement surfaces). They have phone #’s and email addresses of their entire staff listed on their web side, so I asked few questions which were answered immediately.
So I placed my order and couple of days later they informed me that the part I ordered was on back-order, so they offered to refund the money if I didn’t feel like waiting. You know, usually companies will make you wait even if it’s couple of weeks. I asked them how long I’d have to wait and they told me about a week which wasn’t a big deal for me at all, so I was prepared to wait. The next day I received another email from them saying that they would send me a $90 surface cleaner instead of $30 one I had ordered…get this… at no extra charge! I buy stuff on-line very often and I have never seen anything like that before.
Great product, great customer service. It’s very comforting to know that a company stands behind their product in case you need it and most importantly, easily accessible.

I have used gas power washers before and was hesitant to buy electric, however, being newly single decided to try it as I don’t want the hassle of oil, gas, winterizing, etc. I was quite pleasantly surprised at how well it works! It works just as well as the last gas powered one I used!
Compared to the typical residential gas power washer:
1) Lighter, easier to move around. Can easily pick up and carry.
2) Quieter…much quieter!
3) Attachments are much easier to switch.
4) Easier to use overall…trigger is easier to handle, etc.I just purchased a new construction home and cleaning mud and cement dust that had been rained on and stuck to the cement was a breeze. Dirt all over siding, paint on garage floor… all of it was a snap.

Electric Power Washers are ideal for cleaning outdoor surfaces around the house and relatively small objects like outdoor appliances and furniture, cars, boats and the like. What’s great about electric power washers is that they are more quiet than gas powered washers, and they are also generally cheaper. They are also lighter and more maneuverable.

Gas Pressure Washer
If you have large areas that you need to clean quickly, or if you have to strip paint, probably an electric washer won’t be much help. As mentioned previously, Gas Pressure Washers beat the electric power washers by a mile. Remember, the worst gas washers still beat the best of the electric washers.
Probably the most important thing to consider is whether or not you really need all that power. Too much PSi and you risk damaging the items you are trying to clean. Soft wood or glass will not survive the force of water traveling at such high speeds.
Once you have decided that you need a gas pressure washer, make sure that the engine of the one you’ll be getting complies with the emission standards of your state. Remember, these are gas powered washers, and they will emit a certain degree of pollution, unlike electric washers which are generally cleaner and pollution free.
Power Washer Ratings
Here are the 3 main units of measurements used for Power Washer Ratings. You have to know these measurments to be able to determine what you need, and you will be encoutering these measurements throughout the entire site.
Pounds per Square Inch (PSi)
This is how much water pressure is exerted. Since we are talking about power washers, this is how hard the pump/engine is pushing the water through the tiny nozzle. The tougher the jobs you have to do, the more PSi you need. Note: PSi is used universally for water and air (like tire pressure), so this is a good unit of measurement to know.
Gallons Per Minute (GPM)
Water flow is measured in GPM, or how much water is consumed. With more GPM, more surface area can be covered by a a pressure washer.
Cleaning Units (CU)
Finally we have Cleaning Units, or CU. This is simply PSi x GPM. Given 2 washers with the same PSi, the one with the bigger GPM will use more water than the other one, cleaning faster, and therefore has more Cleaning units.
So there you have it, these are main units of measurements for power washers. If you are already looking around at some power washer specs, you will surely encounter these terms.
